Book Series I’m Determined to Finish This Year

So I have this really bad habit of leaving things unfinished. Book series, drawings, stories I’m writing, TV shows – seriously the list is endless. It frustrates the hell out of people I know (apologies to my bf and best friends), but this is just the way I am okay, I can’t help it!

Or can I?

One of my reading resolutions this year is to go back and finish reading some book series that I just haven’t gotten around to. Can I do it? Who knows.. But I’m going to give it a go.

So here’s five book series I really want to finish in 2020:

  1. The Throne of Glass series

Honestly, I got nearly to the end of it my first time reading it. I got right up until the last book and then I just never read it. Kingdom of Ash is one of the books that has been sitting on its lonesome, collecting dust on my tbr shelf and it’s time. My only problem is I’ve forgotten literally everything that has happened in all the other books (another bad habit of mine that particularly annoys my bf.. sorryyyyyyy!) so in February I embarked on a series reread, and guess what, I’m nearly done!! I’m nearly halfway through Empire of Storms and I’m so ready to tackle the Mount Everest of books that is Kingdom of Ash and put this series well and truly behind me.

  1. The Medoran Chronicles

I never thought that I’d end up loving this series as much as I have, but here we are. I adore the characters, the world building is so unique and the plot is surprisingly good!! (so I can forgive the odd cringe here and there). I started this series at the beginning of last year and a few months ago I finished the third book. The fourth one took me ages to track down and buy the time I found it I wasn’t in the mood to read the genre so it’s taken a back seat on the tbr, but it’s going to happen and hopefully soon because I truly enjoy this series!

  1. The Lunar Chronicles

This is another one that I think in order to finish the series I’m going to have to do a reread. It’s been a few years now since I read Cinder and Scarlet, but I remember loving them so, so much. Such a fresh take on fairytale retellings! The plots were intriguing, the characters were amazing and the witty dialogue had me all kinds of satisfied. Cress is another one that’s been on the tbr shelf for far too long and I’m hoping to finally read these ones and finish the series this year.

  1. The Three Dark Crowns series

Again, I read the first two books as soon as they came out and I remember loving them! I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but I thought they were well plotted and had a fresh take on the fantasy genre. There were a fews issues I had with them that I don’t really remember anymore, but they were quick to read and enjoyable, so I’d really like to read them all this year. Although, I think I’ll have to reread those first two again first..

  1. The Demon Road trilogy

I didn’t know that these books existed until I spotted Demon Road on a back shelf in an old book store at the end of last year. My best friend bought it for me as part of my Christmas present and I read it in January this year. And omg. Do yourself a favour and pick up this book. It was an adventure from start to finish, with witty dialogue, gruesome scenes and a monster car. Just. I need to get the next two books and find out what happens ASAP.

This is not by far my full list of book series that I need to finished, but if I talked about all of them we would literally be here for a year, so these are just my top 5 that I’d really like to get to by the end of this year. I don’t doubt that I’m going to be plagued with leaving things unfinished for the rest of my life, but it’s a small start okay? Baby steps.

What are some book series you’ve never gotten around to finishing but really want to?
